Frequently Asked Questions for Guests
Decorating your mortarboard for commencement events is not permitted. Students with decorated mortarboards will, unfortunately, be unable to participate in commencement or the hooding ceremony.
Loma Linda University does not issue or sell tickets to attend commencement ceremonies or other commencement-related events. The university will not honor any tickets or seating reservations that may have been sold. We recommend that you arrive at least one hour before the scheduled ceremony. May commencements are held outdoors in our Campus Mall, with adequate accommodations under the tent and immediate surrounding area; June commencements are held indoors at the Drayson Center, and we are able to accommodate all guests using the main venue and adjacent overflow areas.
No. Only Loma Linda University-approved stoles are allowed for any commencement activities and events.
Approved LLU Stoles:
We recommend making reservations in advance for any local restaurants and hotels for the weekend.
Since the commencement ceremony will be held indoors at the Drayson Center, confetti and noisemakers of any kind are not permitted.
Flowers and flower leis are welcome at our commencement ceremony; no food leis at our commencement ceremony; no flower leis (no exceptions) at the baccalaureate ceremony.
Commencement is a special event for both graduates and their friends and families. Seating is open and on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Drayson Center.
If you have a family member who requires special accommodations to attend the graduation ceremony, please notify us at [email protected] by May 15.
For those attending the Conferring of Degrees on Friday, June 12, 2026, or Sunday, June 14, 2026, ADA parking will be available at designated areas for that day.
Please be sure to display your blue placard when accessing ADA parking areas.
All SPH graduates get a grad bag.
Pick up dates and times include:
- June 8, 2026, from 2 - 5 p.m.
- June 9, 2026, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- June 10, 2026, from 2 - 5 p.m.
- June 11, 2026, from 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- June 12, 2026, from 3 - 5 p.m. – this last one will be after the commencement ceremony

We will continue to uphold the same guidelines as in past years, in alignment with LLU’s principles and mission.
- Robes & Hoods: no altering, modifying, embellishing or decorating. Robes must be zipped up at all times
- Flags: participants and guests are not allowed to bring/display flags (this includes graduates' stoles), national or otherwise, in the commencement venues - baccalaureates, commencement ceremonies, hooding events, other.
