Principal Investigator

Warren Peters MD MPH FOMA, is an associate professor and director of obesity research at the School of Public Health.  He is the PI for this Investigator Supported Study (ISS), funded by Novo Nordisk, The Latino Cross Over Semaglutide Study (LCSS).  It has been given the popular name, Reto Vida Plena and will assess the effect of “pharmaceutically supported” lifestyle changes leading to health and maintenance of a healthy weight. He is and has been the PI on other obesity, insulin resistance, and lifestyle studies.

Co-principal Investigator

I am an Associate Professor of Neuroscience in the Department of Basic Sciences and the Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. I conduct translational research on identifying neurobiological pathways connecting early-life stress to obesity with a cross-cutting theme of reducing health disparities. In addition to my scholarly contributions, I serve in leadership roles in multiple national and regional organizations and professional societies.

Dr. Maud Joachim-Célestin

Dr. Maud Joachim-Célestin

Community Medical Liaison

Dr. Maud Joachim-Célestin is an assistant research professor at Loma Linda University School of Behavioral Health and an adjunct faculty in the department of Preventive Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. She has served as principal investigator and co-investigator for community-health worker led interventions among underserved populations struggling with chronic diseases. Besides overseeing translational research in chronic disease prevention (primarily obesity and diabetes) she teaches Medical Terminology and portions of the clinical community health worker training at San Manuel Gateway College. In the Latino Crossover Semaglutide study she serves as medical liaison, overseeing and coordinating the community health worker team-patient activities.
 

Amandeep Wright

Amandeep Wright

Research Manager

Amandeep Wright is a Research Manager at the Loma Linda University School of Public Health. She has experience with conducting research trials for the past 7 years. Her main expertise is in the field of subject recruitment, coordinating research trials and being a liaison between funding agencies as well as other research partners such as the School of Medicine, Basic science, Behavioral Health etc. She is also actively involved in getting IRB approvals and oversees personnel working in research.
