California Tribal Nations Emergency Management Council
Over the years the demand for emergency preparedness and programs has increased significantly. Homeland Security has created many federal mandates with emergency management that require federal, state, local, and tribal governments to meet compliance. Unfortunately, tribes continue to be left out of the funding for many of the federal mandates and continue to fund themselves.
The California Tribal Nations Emergency Management Council (CTN-EMC) was created in April 2003 to increase the capacity of all California Tribal Nations to develop and sustain programs for all hazardous management through the use of education, information sharing, training, and technical assistance. The CTN-EMC mission is to promote safety through communication, cooperation, and coordination in support of all hazards emergency management. The CTN-EMC will continue to assist tribes with comprehensive emergency management programs to enhance tribal planning and capabilities.
