OPTIFAST® is a 26 week long meal replacement intense lifestyle change program. It meets on Thursday afternoons from 3-5:00pm. Each weekly group session is led by our dietitian and behavioral psychologist. Our exercise specialist will also share key topics in various group lectures and a nurse will evaluate your clinical progress each week. Once a month, each participant has a private visit with one of our physicians and our psychologist to monitor medical and behavioral progress.

  1. Nutrition and meal planning; food choices
  2. Exercise appropriate to individual needs
  3. Psychology of eating behaviors and stress management

Program materials on each of the key topics are given to participants weekly. 

Optifast data about weight loss

1st phase – 12-16 weeks. Initial calorie Level 800-1000 per day, provided by OPTIFAST® meal replacement.  Expected weight loss in Phase I is 2-4 pounds per week.

2nd phase – 12 weeks. Transition to regular food choices; developing a healthy pattern of eating. This is the most important phase of the OPTIFAST® plan. Expected weight loss in Phase II is 1-2 pounds per week.
